RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TX – Today Sara Stapleton Barrera announced she received the endorsement from Jessica Cisneros, an immigration attorney and former candidate for U.S. Representative District 28.
“I’m honored to have the support of Jessica Cisneros who ran an incredible campaign here in South Texas, and captured the attention of the nation,” said Stapleton Barrera. Her fight for equal representation and justice for our communities is my fight as well.”
“Sara Stapleton Barrera is running as a bold progressive, and she’s committed to delivering honest representation for Texas Senate District 27,” said Cisneros. “As a constitutional lawyer, Sara has been in the trenches defending those whose constitutional rights get violated. Sara has seen firsthand how the system is rigged against working families, women, immigrants, our LGBT community, and all other minorities. Now Sara is running for State Senate to directly challenge a rigged system that for too long has ignored our communities here in South Texas.”
Jessica Cisneros, a justice democrat from Laredo and first time candidate, received 48.2% of the vote against a longtime incumbent. Her candidacy brought national attention to South Texas, and she now serves as an important voice for working families along the border.
